Abstract Submission

Investigators are invited to submit an abstract for consideration as an standard talk (12 minutes with 3 minutes for questions), lightning talk (5 minutes with 3 minutes for questions), or poster presentation. Some abstracts on the topic of ecological restoration will be selected for the option of a "fireside" chat format, instead of traditional talk and poster formats. Please prepare an abstract of 300 words or less that describes the content of your presentation. Abstracts could include a brief introduction to the topic, the methods and approach used, the results acquired, and a brief description of their implications. Please also include the presentation’s title, the name and affiliation of all authors, and the contact information for the presenter. Abstracts will be accepted until Monday, May 16, 2016, and decisions will be announced no later than Wednesday, June 15, 2016.

Abstracts will be reviewed by a diverse panel of experts and evaluated for the following:

  • Scientific merit
  • Relevance to conference’s theme and interest areas
  • Relevance to the field as a whole

Guidelines for Abstract Preparation

  • The language of the conference is English; all abstracts must be in English.
  • Clearly indicate your preference: standard talk, lightning talk, or poster.
  • Author(s) must select at least one theme from the list above that best describes the contents of their abstract.
  • Each presenting author may submit only one abstract.
  • Once submitted, abstracts will be considered final.
  • Abstracts can be no longer than 300 words; abstracts exceeding this limit will not be considered.
  • Abstracts should be prepared as a Microsoft Word document, using 12 pt ‘Times New Roman’ font and single line spacing. If authors do not have access to Microsoft Word, abstracts may be submitted in the body of an email.
  • Undergraduate or graduate students, post-docs, and scientists who are less than 5 years from receiving their degree are asked to identify themselves as early career professional.

Presenting Authors

The presenting author is the person who will present the paper at the conference: standard talk, lightning talk, or poster presentation. BioCrust3 organizers will communicate only with the presenting author and all communication will be by email. For this reason, presenting authors must provide contact details, including an email address. The presenting author is asked to register for the conference no later than July 15, 2016.
