EduRoam Gives Travelers Secure WiFi

Eduroam-350px

NAU has joined and implemented eduroam, (education roaming) the secure, world-wide roaming access service developed for the international research and education community.

Eduroam allows travelers from eduroam institutions to gain secure wireless (WiFi) network access using user account information maintained by their home institution. This benefits visiting faculty, academics traveling for conferences and collaborative work, study abroad students, visitors attending NCAA activities, and even regional academic exchange.

You should see a new wireless network (SSID), eduroam, available wherever wireless (WiFi) access is available at NAU except in residence halls. Visitors from other eduroam institutions can access this secure network while at NAU. NAU faculty, staff, and students should continue to use the NAU network while at NAU but can now access the secure eduroam network while visiting institutions that have implemented eduroam such as Arizona State University and the University of Arizona using their NAU user account information.

Remember the number one eduroam support rule: always contact your home institution’s support services first (For NAU Students please call the ITS Student Technology Center at 928-523-9294. For NAU Faculty and Staff please call the ITS Solution Center at 928-523-1511). More information can be found at the wireless web page.
