Surplus Property sells merchandise diretly to University faculty, staff, students and the general public for personal use. Property that is eligible to be sold by spot sale is available on a cash and carry basis for the price on the date written on the itme.

The following conditions apply to public spot sales:

  1. Determination of what items may be sold to the public is at the discretion of the Suplus Property department.

  2. We reserve the rigth to refuse service to anyone.

  3. Only items that have been in Surplus Property's possession for a minimum of 15 days are eligible for sale to the general public.

The holding period ensures that University departments have the chance to claim property for on-campus before it is sold to the public (this includes all items in the main warehouse).

Items will be stamped with an available sale date (which equates to a date 15 days after the item was received) and a price.

If the 15 day holding period expires on the weekenc or on a holiday, that item may be purchased the next business day.

Lost and found items are exempt from the 15 day period.
  4. If more than one interested buyer arrives to purchase the same item at the same time we will request all parties to put in a written offer. The item will then go to the highest bidder.

  5. Most items for sale will be priced, however if not, please ask a member of the warehouse staff to establish a price for you.

  6. "Cash and Carry" means - pay by cash or check and take the item with you. We will not be responsible for any item left in the warehouse after it has been sold! Please do not ask us to store your purchased item(s) so that you can pick it up at a later date or to hold an item for your until the sale date. All items sold on a cash receipt will be returned to inventory and re-sold if not picked up by the buyer within 5 days of purchase.

  7. A 6.525% Sales Tax applies to all sales, unless a tax exempt ID is suplied.
