Welcome to
the NAU Department of Psychology! Approximately 35% of our majors
are transfer students from other universities and community college
programs, and we would like to insure that you make a smooth and
easy transition to our department.
All transfer
students interested in Psychology benefit from first contacting
the Office of Academic Services and Advising. They will help navigate
issues of transfer transcripts, NAU Liberal Studies, how to navigate
through the LOUIE system, and questions about admissions. Once general
questions have been answered you will be referred to the Psychology
Department for more specific information about the Psychology Department,
courses and research opportunities.
f you have any additional questions, comments or suggestions, please
visit our main office or type your ideas or suggestions and deliver
them to the office.
Required courses for the psychology major include PSY 101, PSY 230
(Introduction to Statistics in Psychology), and PSY 302W(Research
Methods in Psychology). Students should take PSY 230 in their second
year and PSY 302W in the third year, leaving your fourth year for
elective units in PSY 485 (Undergraduate Research) if you are interested
in graduate school, PSY 408 (fieldwork) for practical experience,
and the required capstone experience courses. Please check out our
"Get Involved" link for important
opportunities in the major.
