| Working
with an NAU faculty member as part of his or her research program,
or being mentored as you conduct an independent research project,
is a wonderful opportunity for NAU psychology majors. NAU Psychology
faculty are engaged in many different types of research, investigating
a variety of important topics, utilizing a variety of methodologies,
engaging diverse participant populations, and employing many different
kinds of research designs. Engaging in research promotes a host of
abilities and skills that employers and graduate programs seek. We
encourage you to seek out these opportunities after you have taken
302w. Students are permitted to sign up for 1-3 credit hours of PSY
485 a semester, with a total of 6 credit hours counting toward their
major. Many faculty prefer it if students are able to stay with the
research project for two subsequent semesters. Keep in mind that each
credit hour of PSY 485 carries a responsibility of approximately 3
hours of work each week. So, signing up for 1 credit hour is about
3 hours of work a week, 2 credit hours about 6 hours per week, and
3 credit hours about 9 hours per week. Please do not pursue
PSY 485 if you are unable to meet this time commitment. |
