Additional Requirements

A few graduate schools of the health professions require one semester of calculus, and even fewer require a year of calculus. A course in statistics is highly recommended, and is required by vet schools and several other health professions.

Many schools recommend biochemistry and a few require it. A year of English composition and/or literature is required by the University of Arizona College of Medicine and by a number of other schools.

Check school catalogues in the Office of Biomedical Professions. Spanish is recommended, although not required, by some health professions schools in the Southwest. The University of Arizona College of Medicine is one of these schools.

Admissions committees gather information from the detailed application you will complete. These applications include your personal statement, your academic, extracurricular and volunteer history, letters of recommendation, transcripts and a report of your standardized test scores. Admissions committees also may interview you to further explore your qualifications.
