MY research question is: Does reclaimed water, used on NAU football fields and community lawns, harmful if dermally contacted, orally ingested or inhaled? If so, are these concentration harmful to humans? Why it is important to ask this question? It is important to answer this question because Flagstaff has approved the use of reclaimed water in snow making at the Snow Bowl Ski Resort. If Flagstaff's reclaimed water is harmul to humans it should not be used for snowmaking or watering NAU's football field and lawns.

Why it is important to study human impacts upon ecosystems of the Colorado Plateau? The Colorado Plateau contains a biota that is exceptionally diverse, The diverse biota can be attributed to the region’s varied topography and its geographic position in the western United States. The human suppression of wildfires combined with widespread grazing and logging has resulted in many unforeseen and unwanted changes. Some of these changes include altering of composition and structure of forests as well as the spread of exotic species. Dam building in Arizona and excessive pumping of groundwater have damaged many riparian ecosystems. Riparian ecosystem are critical to this dry region’s plant and animal life.
