Introduction:
My name is Myron James and I am technically junior here at Northern Arizona University. I am majoring in Computer Science and I have a declared
minor in Mathematics. I am of the Bitter Water people and born for the Mexican People. I graduated from Ganado High School
in May of 2003. I will be graduating from NAU sometime soon. I enjoy physical activities and meeting new people. I am fortunate enough to
be part of the UMEB team.
The UMEB Program (Undergraduate Mentoring in Environmental Biology) is quite exciting so far.
It is a fun program sponsored by the National Science Foundation. I am currently working with with a team of engineers who are working on detecting weather
patterns using sophisticated gadgets. The team is led by Dr. Paul Flikkema who has degrees in Electrical Engineering, including a PHD. His
work includes wireless networking to detect weather patterns in nature. From my understanding the goal is to use low-price gadgets
to monitor certain weather patterns, such as temperature fro example, in the wilderness.
When I first started the program, I did not know what I was required to do. Now I
know that I must find a question about my research. We've made a plan about how I am going to meet certain
requirements so that I can follow up in the summer and be better prepared for summers work.
So far, I am lost as to what I am going to do, but after talking with Dr. Paul Flikkema, Nancy Johnson, and Sally Evans, I've gained
a sense of direction and motivation.
