Passing Moderator Privileges in an Elluminate Session

Passing Moderator Privilegesin an Elluminate Session

[This set of instructions is specific to the “external – non-Vista” application of Elluminate for students trying to meet “real-time” in a virtual environment and collaborate on group assignments for their classes.]

Login to the perspective Elluminate Session as a Moderator.  (Most likely you will be creating a new session.)

Note:  To login as a Moderator you will need a UserID AND Password.  Non-Moderator Participants do not need a password.

1

(This is the Flat Minimal Layout view.)

  1. As the Moderator, highlight the person to whom you would like to pass Moderator control.

2

  1. Right click the highlighted name and select “Give Moderator Prilvilege”.

3

  1. You will then be asked to confirm that you would like to give this person Moderator Priviledge.  Select “Yes”.

4

  1. The participant who has just been made a Moderator will be informed that they are now a Moderator.

5

They can either select “OK” or let the window close by its self.

  1. The original Moderator can now Exit the session.

6

  1. The new Moderator has control of the meeting.

7

This may not be practical, but if we can recommend to students that they have at least two people login at the same time then you could show the first Moderator how to “Give Moderator Privileges” to the second person.

This would accomplish to things:

  1. It will minimize call backs from the first person somehow getting dropped from the session and requiring an STC person to pass them Moderator Privileges AGAIN.
    1. If there are two people with Moderator rights, if one drops, the other one still has control of the meeting.
  2. Additionally, if the participants know how to pass Moderator Privileges, then if they are collaborating on a project, all of the project team can be passed the Moderator rights without the STC person waiting around until they are all there.
