NAU has adopted eInstruction as the university standard classroom response system.
What "Standardization" means
NAU has signed an agreement that we will not adopt another system as the university sanctioned and supported system. There is special pricing and support for the eInstruction system. This does not, however, unequivocally restrict use of another system by individual faculty. That said, please consider the effect on students if you require them to possibly purchase and use more than one system.
Student Pricing
Response Pads (Clickers) will cost students $20 in the NAU bookstore.
The bookstore has agreed to stock 100% of the quantity needed by known adopting classes.
Students register their "Pad" at the eInstruction website. ( http://einstruction.com)
- Registration Option 1: Students pay $35 to use the pad in all classes for lifetime access.
- Registration Option 2: Students pay $13 to use the pad in all classes for each term until the student reaches the cap of $39.

Student Refunds
The eInstruction response pads that the bookstore is carrying are returnable until September 11th for a full refund, just like any other textbook. If clickers are readopted for Spring courses before the Fall buy back at the end of the semester, they will be repurchased from the students at 50% of the new clicker price.
What Must I Do?
The NAU Bookstore and the e-Learning Center must know which faculty are adopting the technology, for which classes, and be informed of this each semester. Please notify us by filling out the new clicker request so student purchase's from the bookstore can be coordinated, "test kits" for faculty can be obtained, and receivers and software can be installed in classrooms (in coordination with local tech support staff).
Test Kits
Each faculty member adopting the eInstruction Response System in one or more classes will receive a 'Test Kit" which includes the software, instructor's manual, one receiver, and one response pad. The e-Learning Center will coordinate distribution of test kits. Receivers are also installed in several common-use rooms: Geology 103, Physical Science 233, Wettaw 130, Business Admin 436.

Support
FacultyTraining
Student Training
ELC will work with each college and their IT support staff to get needed receivers and software installed. ELC will arrange for preliminary training in using the technology as faculty feel the need for it, provide pedagogical advice on effective practices with clickers, and assist with integrating eInstruction with BlackboardVista.
Academic Honesty
Other schools using clickers recommend a clear policy in the class syllabus indicating that student cannot use one another's clickers. This is the equivalent of impersonating another student, and could potentially be a way for students to cheat on a test or get marked present when they are absent. Instructors should clearly indicate what happens if a student is found to be using another's clicker.
