Applications are invited for an Instructor position in Organic Chemistry for the 2008-2009 academic year. An ABD in Chemistry or related discipline is required with preference given to applicants with a PhD in Chemistry or related discipline. This instructor will teach organic chemistry lectures and laboratories and general chemistry lectures and laboratories if needed. Preference will be given to candidates with strong backgrounds in organic chemistry, teaching experience and evidence of teaching effectiveness, and experience working and interacting with diverse cultures.

The Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry has fifteen tenure track faculty committed to excellence in teaching and research. The department currently has over 200 undergraduate majors enrolled and offers a number of Bachelor and Master of Science degrees in chemistry including ACS certified degrees. Collaborations with individuals involved in areas such as Biology, Physics, and Environmental Science are encouraged. The Department has expanded dramatically with the recent hiring of new faculty, a new biology/biochemistry building completed in 2000, and a new 80,000 ft2 Laboratory Sciences Building that was occupied in January 2007. The Department looks forward to continued improvement with the arrival of the individuals chosen for these openings.

Northern Arizona University currently has over 21,500 students enrolled and is located in the scenic mountain community of Flagstaff, Arizona. Nearby are the Grand Canyon, Meteor Crater, the Painted Desert, Sedona, Oak Creek Canyon, and other scenic wonders. Excellent skiing and hiking areas are to be found in the San Francisco Peaks which are located just a few miles from Flagstaff. Many major cities in the West and Southwest are within a day's drive.
