An ABD in Chemistry or related discipline is required with preference given to applicants with a PhD in Chemistry or related discipline. This instructor will teach organic chemistry lectures and laboratories and general chemistry lectures and laboratories if needed. Preference will be given to candidates with strong backgrounds in organic chemistry, teaching experience and evidence of teaching effectiveness, and experience working and interacting with diverse cultures.

The Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry has fifteen tenure track faculty committed to excellence in teaching and research. The department currently has over 200 undergraduate majors enrolled and offers a number of Bachelor and Master of Science degrees in chemistry including ACS certified degrees. Collaborations with individuals involved in areas such as Biology, Physics, and Environmental Science are encouraged. The Department has expanded dramatically with the recent hiring of new faculty, a new biology/biochemistry building completed in 2000, and a new 80,000 ft2 Laboratory Sciences Building that was occupied in January 2007. The Department looks forward to continued improvement with the arrival of the individuals chosen for these openings.
