Arizona ends NAU win streak at three

TUCSON, Ariz. : Momentum stopped. Arizona used its highest goal output in two years, scoring two goals in a span of 2 1/2 minutes of the second half to rally and defeat the Northern Arizona women's soccer team, 4-2, Monday afternoon.

The loss snapped the Lumberjacks' three-match win streak, the longest in the program's brief history. NAU fell to 4-5-0, while UA improved to 3-4-1.

Another streak ended as well, but another continued. Both involve sophomore forward Raegin Eyre. Her four-match goal-scoring streak ended Monday, but she tallied an assist to stretch her point-scoring streak to five matches.

Sophomore midfielder Erin Rummens did all the damage for NAU, scoring both Lumberjack goals. Her first tied the match at 1 at the 21:51 mark on an assist from Eyre, then her second at the 56:27 mark gave NAU a 2-1 lead.

But Arizona rallied with quick strikes. A goal by Nikki Jones at 61:35 was followed by a tally from Megan Canaday at 64:03 to give UA a lead it would not relinquish. The Wildcats added another from Twila Kaufman off a rebound at 75:44.

NAU returns home for a three-match stretch, beginning Friday at 6 p.m. against Utah in Lumberjack Stadium.
