Report Title: Freshman Connections Computer Survey

Summary of the Project:
All incoming freshmen who live in one of the four Freshman Connections halls on campus are asked upon moving in, "Did you bring a computer with you to campus?" The results have been used to inform university policy makers in several ways:
Determining whether or not there should there be a mandatory computer policy
Determining what support student users need
Determining what level of computer lab support is needed
Sharing results with faculty members so that faculty can measure the need or advantage of
utilizing technology within the classroom
Key Findings/Highlights:
The majority of freshmen bring a computer with them to campus.

Key Recommendations:
Continue to monitor student computer ownership in order to inform policy makers
Consider programming or computer lab changes, depending on ownership
Use in New Faculty Orientation
Ensure this question has a field on Residence Life check-in roster or on HOLIS check-in
System
Include "cell phone question" next year during check-in
