Fronske Health Center
Assessment Resource Team
AY 2003 - 2004 Assessment Projects
Follow-Up on Fronske Advocates’ Campus Satisfaction Survey
Fronske Advocates performed a survey (sample of 398 students and 25
employees) in November 2002 in the Student Union and DuBois asking
participants to provide feedback on Fronske Heath Center (FHC) services.
The survey results indicated that there is a perception on campus that
if a student accesses Fronske health care services they will be “asked
if they are pregnant, even if they are in for a stubbed toe.” After many
discussions with students, Fronske staff determined that an educational
campaign about why it is necessary to take vital signs and inquire about
a woman’s possibility of being pregnant is necessary to improve image.
An image campaign is being launched this fall (2003) and a follow-up
survey will developed to measure whether the image of the center has
improved and the understanding of the importance of vital signs and
determining the possibility of pregnancy has increased. The survey will
be completed by fall 2004.
Utilization Audit: Management of Depression
Due to the frequency at which patients who are diagnosed with depression
miss appointments without canceling them, an audit of patients receiving
care for depression was planned. Records of these patients have been
audited, and the resulting data will be reviewed by the providers,
nurses, and psychiatrist on November 12, 2003. Following that, the
psychiatrist will provide a review course on how to prepare students for
antidepressant therapy.
Further parts of the study may include investigating to see how many of
the students being treated at Fronske were also being seen at Counseling
and Testing Center. This may be useful for overall patient management
especially because the literature supports that medication and
counseling simultaneously is very effective in the management of
depression. It was also noted that it would be of value to know if we
lost any of these students to dropping out of school, transferring to
another location, or to graduation. The possibility of incorporating
this information in the study will be evaluated.
Patient
Satisfaction Survey – Woman’s Health Care Services
As a part of the overall commitment to client satisfaction as well as
the need to obtain satisfaction data for accreditation, FHC will review
women’s health services. All women visiting the clinic for a woman’s
routine exam will be given a satisfaction survey. Data will be gathered
about ease in getting an appointment, convenience, cost, staff’s
attempts/skill at helping you feel at ease/comfortable/ask, and
provider’s ability to answer questions and explain related/relevant
information.
Positive Strep Outcomes Study
This study will follow-up with patients that received positive strep
culture results during the fall semester. The purpose is to: 1) ensure
the patient received timely notification of their test results; 2)
determine if the patient was given a 3-day supply of an antibiotic while
waiting for results and if he or she pick up the remainder of the
prescription; and 3) verify if the patient completed the 10-day supply
of antibiotics. Lastly, the study will enable the collection of
information about if students miss class because of this illness, and if
so, the consequences of this.
