Career Opportunities
Journalism graduates are prepared for careers in the areas of newspaper as reporter, writer, copy editor, section editor or editor; in magazine as writer or editor; in wire service as reporter or editor; in government organizations; in public relations; in advertising; in secondary education as teacher or publication adviser; as a lobbyist in politics; in public administration or public information; in environmental communication; in law school or graduate studies in communication; in law school or graduate studies in communication, journalism or political science.
Internship Opportunities
Students in journalism may complete an internship in an approved organization. An important aspect of a print journalism education is the development of news judgment skills forged in the heat of actual newspaper deadlines. Students also have the opportunity to work on The Lumberjack, NAU's award-winning campus weekly for the refinement of professional skills.
