Research and Teaching interests: Photographing the Southwestern landscape in color and traditional black and white, studio lighting techniques especially for portraiture, environmental portraits.
Representative Research and Creative Activity: Creative Project “Below the Rim”, a 29 year ongoing project which has produced a collection of gelatin-silver prints documenting the wilderness of Grand Canyon National Park. The collection which exceeds 100 images, uses traditional black and white films, large and medium format cameras, and documents only remote regions of the Grand Canyon below the rim. Research of historic cameras including those used by Grand Canyon Photographer Emery Kolb.
