P2P un-installation procedures for Windows
Looking to configure your P2P programs,
not uninstall them? Click here
The un-installation of peer-to-peer (a.k.a. p2p) applications
generally fit into two main categories. The first are the
ones that are easy to un-install. The second are the programs
that install 3rd party spy programs. This guide contains
information on how to uninstall both groups of programs
step by step and while it contains many examples, it is
by no means a complete list of ALL p2p applications. However,
the principles here can be applied to almost all file-sharing
software.
The titles we will be looking at in this guide are as follows:
Kazaa
morpheus
CuteMX
Imesh
Gnutella
Napigator
ToadNode
Blubster
As these programs continue to advance an increasing number
are including spyware programs such as aureate and gator/Gain.
Removing the p2p software doesn’t always remove
the spyware that was installed along with it. To remove
the
spyware a separate removal program must be run after
the p2p software has been removed.
Uninstall Procedure
- To remove software, click "Start", then "Settings" then
"Control Panels".
/p>
- Double-click the add/remove programs icon

- From this list highlight the program you wish to remove
and click the Add/Remove button which will begin the
un-installation process.
Every program has a different un-installation interface
but mainly they will come in two categories:
- One will ask whether you wish to uninstall all
components to which you will click yes and the un-installation
will
proceed.
- The other type will have automatic and custom buttons
and a next button. Select automatic then click next
for the
un-installation to proceed (sometimes another screen
will appear where you must press finish to begin)
Repeat
this process for all the p2p programs on the computer.
