Disable file sharing on Windows 98/ME
- Double-click the "My Compter"icon on your
desktop.

- Double-click
the "Control Panel" icon.

- Double-click
the "Network" icon. Select the "Configuration"
tab if it is not selected, and click the "File and
Sharing" button.

- To
disable file sharing uncheck "I want to be
able to give others access to my files." and to
disable print sharing uncheck "I want to be able
to allow others to print to my printers." Click "OK".

- Select
the "TCP/IP" protocol that is bound
to your ethernet card. Click "Properties".
Select "Bindings" tab.

- Uncheck
the named "File and printer sharing for
Microsoft Networks".
- Click "OK" twice.
- Click "Yes" to
restart your computer and put the changes into effect.
Disable file sharing on Windows NT
- Double-click on "My Computer".
- Right-click
on your hard drive, typically (C:).
- Choose "Sharing".

- Set
to "Not Shared".
Disable file sharing on Windows 2000
- Click "Start".
- Select "Settings".
- Click "Network and
Dial-up Connections".
- Double click the "Local
Area Connections"

Click "Properties".
- Uncheck the "File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft
Networks" option, click "OK".

- Close all windows until you return to the desktop
