The
NAU ResNet program brings high-speed ethernet and DSL connections
to the residence halls. Now you can hook up to the campus
network and to the entire internet without tying up your
telephone line. No more busy signals - you can surf the
net and talk on the phone at the same time!
A ResNet connection is much faster than the dialup connection.
Web pages and graphics load in
a fraction of the time. Downloads that used to take hours
take only minutes.
What does this service cost? That's the best part - it's
free! ResNet is provided through a partnership between
Residence Life and Information Technology Services. There
is no charge
for a ResNet connection, but you'll
need a network adapter for your computer. This adapter
is not the same as a modem. They're available at the NAU
bookstore,
starting around $20. The bookstore also carries network
cables and other accessories for your machine.
Is your computer is powerful enough to handle networking?
Check out the recommended
hardware list on our Requirements page to see what we suggest for network use.
The ResNet Support page has information on getting help with
your network set-up. If you'd rather do it yourself, go to
the
Quick
Start Setup Instructions page. If you're already
set up and ready to register for ResNet service, go to the
online registration form.
