Commencement will be held in the J. Lawrence Walkup Skydome on Friday, December 11, 2009, at 10:00 a.m. and 3 p.m. (See Fall 2009 Schedule). Guest attendance and seating at commencement are unrestricted. No tickets are required.
If you or any of your guests are an individual with a disability and will require reasonable accommodation to participate in commencement, please contact Betty Zanot at (928)523-3312 or email Betty.Zanot@nau.edu. Requests for accommodation should preferably be made within one week of commencement to allow time to arrange the accommodation.
The faculty will assemble in the stands with their College and will be seated with the College Students.
Please wear academic attire. Marshals will direct you for the processional and seating. Only faculty in full academic attire will be permitted to march in the procession and be seated in the section reserved for faculty. Faculty without access to academic attire may rent a cap, gown, and hood for the ceremony by placing their orders through the Northern Arizona University Bookstore (928-523-4041 or 1-800-426-7674) or by purchasing all items on-line at www.bookstore.nau.edu.
We remind you of the significance of commencement for your students and their families. In continuing efforts to focus on the achievements of students and the role of Northern Arizona University faculty in those success stories, we ask that you let us know of items for dissemination to the media. The quality of press coverage of this event depends greatly on information provided to the press by the Office of Public Affairs. In turn, news services depend upon information generated by the respective colleges regarding students who might be the subject of a human interest story, someone who has overcome great obstacles to graduate or someone who has conducted interesting and significant research that might be of interest to the public.
Please contact Tom Bauer in the Office of Public Affairs with story ideas as commencement approaches: (928)523-7507, or email Tom.Bauer@nau.edu.
We urge you to attend this important event in the University year. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.
