The Class The intent of this course is to develop a familiarity with the design of low-rise buildings, the Uniform Building Code, the design and analysis of wood and masonry building components, and corresponding connection/anchorage details. A "systems" approach is used to emphasize how materials and components are integrated to form a single-story, masonry-wall, wood-roof building. This web-based class is divided into seven major modules and a semester-long project, which are located on the side navigation bar of this page. To complete the course you must work sequentially through each module, beginning with the introduction and ending with masonry walls. In addition to completing the module requirements, you will also need to complete periodic project assignments. All assignments and requirements are detailed within each module and/or sub-module. |
