School of Nursing Scholarships
(Apply through the School of Nursing Office)

1. Arizona Hazlewood Scholarship

Must be a Nursing major at Northern Arizona University.

Source: Established by a bequest of Arizona Hazlewood, a long time resident of Globe, Arizona and friend of Northern Arizona University alumna Marie Hachtel.

2. Barbara Cline Nursing Fund

Undergraduate or Graduate NAU Nursing student who has acquired mature judgment, students who have held jobs after high school, students who have become divorced, students who have worked as nurses aides and wish to continue their education, and students who have high morals and ideals of service. Must have been accepted by the Department of Nursing and be a dedicated and deserving student.

3. Betty Gendler Scholarship

Must be an undergraduate second year, or an RN/BSN, minority preferred, interested in community health nursing, bilingual, or first-generation college student.

4. Betty Jean Laman Memorial Scholarship

Must be a deserving Nursing student who has successfully completed the first year of the Nursing program at the time this schollarship is received.

5. Disadvantaged Students Scholarship

The Disadvantaged Students Scholarship is available to students who are low income, who come from a health shortage area, or who are first generation college students. Please attach supporting information such as your FAFSA, ACCHS or food stamp eligibility info. The application is due the second week in September to the CHHS dean’s office, Room 118. 6. Ellen Rasmussen Scholarship

Undergraduate or Graduate student enrolled as a full-time student (12 for undergraduate and 9 for graduate). Must have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or above, have financial need and be a US Citizen. Preference will be given to mature women seeking a second career, retraining, or advanced training who meet the above criteria.

7. Holly Hart-Vandeveegaete Scholarship

Must be a junior or senior Nursing Student at the time of scholarship is received.

8. Jory Dorman Memorial Scholarship

Must be admitted into the Nursing program at Northern Arizona University. A Flagstaff High School or Coconino High School graduate. Must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.

Source: Established by Brenda Dorman in memory of her son, Jory Dorman, a Flagstaff area high school graduate who died tragically.

9. Martha V. Chapman Scholarship

Must be a full time nursing student with a GPA of 3.0 or better.

10. Ottens Foundation Scholarship

For Native American students accepted in the NAU American-Indian pre-licensed BSN Program who intend to work within Native American communities with completion of thier basic nursing education. The scholarship can provide tuition/fees, books and/or a stipend for summer, fall and spring terms. Although annual, continuation of support is based on continued good academic standing (a GPA of 2.75 and/or Pass grades during the previous term), as well as financial need. Qualification for the scholarship is contingent upon application for other funding, to include Indian Health Service and tribal support.

11. Ruth E. Nichols Memorial Nursing Scholarrship

Nursing student who has completed at least NUR 205 or the equivalent or a graduate nursing student, registered for a minimum of six semester hours; financial need; preference for students wo are bilingual; reflect characteristics of ethics and integrity; people skills; volunteer work; community committment and care.

12. Sigma Theta Tau Nursing International Scholarship

Undergraduate or Graduate student enrolled in the Nursing program as a full-time student (12 hours for undergraduate and 9 for graduate). Must have a cumlative GPA of 3.75 or above. University and/or community service and leadership activities are required.

13. Warnock-Morrow Scholarship

May be a undergraduate or graduate student, full time, and have a cumulative GPA of 2.5. Must be a US Citizen with a financial need.

14. National Society for the Colonial Dames of America in Arizona Scholarship

Applicant must be Native American.
