Margot Saltonstall, '97, MA
Assessment Coordinator
Enrollment Management and Student Affairs

Margot & John Saltonstalls "I can't recall how long I have given to NAU but my husband John, '01, BS, and I do it because we contribute to places I believe in. We hope that our small but steady donations help make things possible for Northern Arizona University students that would not otherwise be possible. As graduates of NAU, we both feel good about giving back to a place that offered many opportunities to us."

Pete Fulé, '90, MSF
Associate Professor, School of Forestry
Managing Director, Ecological Restoration Institute

Peter FuléPete and his wife Mary, '97, MA, have supported NAU for over 10 years. "We have terrific students at NAU," Pete said, "Many of whom are making sacrifices to get through school. I benefitted from scholarships, and I´m happy to have a chance to give something back." Pete noted that the school he attended has a stronger donor base than NAU, but he prefers to donate to NAU because the needs are greater. Additionally, Pete is proud of NAU's programs in forestry and ecological restoration; supporting them "feels good."

Sue Orbzut, '78, AS
Supervisor, Information Support Team
University Advancement

Sue ObrzutSue has given back to NAU for over eight years. "It's so easy," she says about using payroll deduction. It's also easy to change your gift designation as Sue and her husband Jerry recently did. She and Jerry are antique car owners, and they're happy to support Cline Library's upcoming "Route 66 in Arizona: Don't Forget Winona!" summer exhibit. With this new designation, she can give to an area close to her heart, while supporting an important university project.

Tom Carpenter, '83, BS
Director, Graduate Admissions and Services
Graduate College

Tom Carpenter"I have been giving through payroll deduction for several years. It's easy, painless, and I know that my donation to the Mary Crawley Scholarship honors a remarkable colleague and helps NAU students."

Charleene Fell, '95, BS
Library Specialist
Cline Library

Charleene Fell and Sons"When I began my job in the Cline Library in 1990, I was able to enroll in part-time classes because of the NAU employee tuition assistance program. I eventually fulfilled my dream to complete my Bachelor's. With two college-aged sons, it was also my hope and plan to make a college degree affordable for them. Both of them attended NAU, and my younger son completed his degree in Computer Science and Engineering in 1997. Without the reduced tuition rate, a college education would not have been affordable for us. I am grateful to NAU, and I am happy to give back to the university so that I might help other deserving students who need additional assistance and obtain their degree and dream of a fulfilling life and career. Payroll deduction makes contributing so easy and painless, and I am happy to be a longtime contributor."

Susan Maestas, '83 BA
NAU Postal Services
Supervisor

Susan Maestas"I have been employed at NAU Postal Services for 22 years; I enjoy working here and I look forward to many more years. During this time I spent four years on the Classified Staff Advisory Council, including one term as Chair. This service experience showed me just how much Northern Arizona University's Staff and Administration work together to make NAU a better place. NAU really is a close community where people do count and do make a difference. This is why I give to the Foundation: I believe in NAU and all the people who work here and go to school here. I encourage all of you in the Northern Arizona University community to give to the Foundation. Even the smallest amount will go long way."

Kurt Ristinen,'02, MS
Supervisor, Sr.
Materials Handling, Chemistry & Biochemistry

Kurt Ristinen"Most of us either know students on scholarships, or have known someone for whom a scholarship is named. Donating to the annual fund is a way of supporting their academic endeavors or honoring their memory. One does not need to empty a savings account to achieve this; a few dollars per pay period is not noticed by the donor, and goes a long way toward guaranteeing a stronger future for all."
