The STAR program is open to new freshmen planning to attend Northern Arizona University beginning in the fall semester who meet one of the following criteria:

    1. Be a first-generation college student
    2. Demonstrate financial need
    3. Be an ethnic minority African-American, Asian-American, Hispanic, or Native American

    Program Costs

The value of the program is $2,700, which includes summer school tuition, housing, meals, books, activities and supplies.

Most in-state students will receive a full scholarship to participate, but depending on family income, some students will pay a participation fee for this great summer opportunity.  To determine your level of scholarship for STAR, you must complete the STAR Financial Information Worksheet

Out-of-state students will pay the entire cost of $2,700 to participate in STAR.  Some students will be eligible for federal grants to cover some of the costs of the program.  To determine federal grant eligibility, out-of-state students must complete the 2006-07 Free Application for Federal Aid (FAFSA) application.  The 2006-07 FAFSA uses 2005 federal income tax information to determine financial aid eligibility.  You can submit the 2006-07 FAFSA online at www.fafsa.ed.gov
