John Stark has been KNAU's general manager since September 1993. Under his leadership, the radio station has made significant advances resulting inKNAU's current position as one of the public radio system's most innovative stations.

Among other accomplishments:

• KNAU serves an estimated weekly audience of 60,000 persons, triple its 1993 level. KNAU consistently ranks among the top five public radio stations nationally in market penetration and share.
  
• KNAU has grown into a five station network with repeater stations in Prescott, Show Low, and Page.
  
• KNAU moved into a new 5,300 square foot facility with new equipment in August 1998. The project came in on schedule and substantially under budget.
  
• KNAU has become widely recognized for the quality of its programming, winning awards such as the Scripps Howard National Journalism Award and regularly placing reports on NPR newsmagazines.
  

Prior to arriving in northern Arizona, Stark worked at public radio stations in Las Vegas, California, and Colorado, as well as serving as associate producer of NPR's Morning Edition in Washington, DC.

Stark is an inveterate Grand Canyon back country hiker.
