SPSS is a computer program used for survey authoring, data mining, text analytics, statistical analysis, and collaboration & deployment. It is also sometimes called PASW (Predictive Analytics SoftWare).
The Computer Labs on campus and our Virtual Lab (vlab) utilize an image which has the SPSS software already installed.

How to Request
SPSS/PASW Authorization/License Code
To obtain the SPSS/PASW authorization/license code, please use the self registration page. If you are off-campus it will be necessary for you to log into the NAU VPN before you will be able to access the pages. This applies to mounting the shares as well.
Installation Instructions for Departments, Faculty, and Staff
Note—this is not a web address but is a windows share that must be mounted. Departments, faculty or staff may copy the install files for SPSS/PASW free from NAUShares.

If a physical copy (dvd) of SPSS/PASW software is needed, it is available through the ITS Software Store for a $10 media fee.

Cost / Pricing
ITS is currently subsidizing the cost of SPSS/PASW on campus; it is free for NAU faculty, staff and student use.
ITS provides licenses at reduced costs to help researchers on campus.

ITS personnel cannot assist with statistical interpretation. What we can do is help with errors resulting from problems with the statistical program in question. There may be times when you will be required to contact either SPSS or SAS yourself to resolve some issues. For more information please visit our Statistics Support page.
General Information Academic Computing also assists in survey processing and Faculty evaluation processing. ITS is able to supply (for a nominal charge) scan forms that you may employ in your survey based research.
