ITS Social Media Policy

Northern Arizona University’s Information Technology Services social media presence on Twitter and Facebook was established to help fulfill our mission to provide information technology and telecommunications services in support of Northern Arizona University’s missions and goals.

The NAU ITS social media presence is to adhere to all NAU missions and policies including:

  • The Social Media Directory Inclusion Guidelines/Requirements
  • The NAU Mission Statement
  • The Safe Working & Learning Environment Policy
  • The NAU Writing Style Guide

Any content that is found to be in violation of these policies is to be removed immediately.  

ITS Social Media Guidelines

Northern Arizona University’s Information Technology Services (ITS) established a social media presence on Twitter and Facebook to help fulfill its missions to provide information technology and telecommunications services in support of Northern Arizona University missions and goals. The following guidelines describe the appropriate use and conduct of this service.

The NAU ITS social media presence is to be used for the following purposes:

  • Provide level 1 support to the NAU community on Information Technology Systems
  • Provide the NAU community with access to the latest information and news from ITS
  • Act as a forward-facing representative of ITS to the NAU community
  • Advertise NAU ITS services

The NAU ITS social media presence is to adhere to all NAU missions and policies including:

  • The Social Media Directory Inclusion Guidelines/Requirements
  • The NAU Mission Statement
  • The Safe Working & Learning Environment Policy
  • The NAU Writing Style Guide

Management

NAU ITS social media is managed and maintained by the ITS Learning & Professional Development team.  Please send all inquiries and requests concerning ITS social media to prodev@nau.edu.

Negative Feedback

We encourage any and all feedback on our page, including negative feedback.  If we receive negative we will:

  • Apologize
  • Always respond in a helpful manner
  • Do not delete post unless it is in violation of (Safe Working & Learning Environment) SWALE
    • If so, explain why post was deleted to your audience.
      • Ex: We deleted the following post/comment from our page do to (vulgarity, inappropriate, etc.). 

Abusive Content

We encourage the NAU community to participate in NAU ITS social media presence by commenting on our pages and posts.  However, this should be done with the understanding that all content on our page must adhere to NAU policies. If any posts are deemed to be abusive/vulgar we will remove the post from our page.  In addition, any posts that are not relevant to our page will also be deleted including advertisements, spam, etc.
