New ITS Web Site Follows NAU Upgrade

ITS Home Page small

You’re reading this newsletter on the new ITS website, and that means that our new architecture, look, feel, and content are now available for your exploration. ITS has been redesigning and updating the website in close collaboration with the all-new NAU central website effort. By using the new web content management system and establishing new standards and practices, we’ve met our goal to roll out the new site in time for the Fall 2011 semester.

The new site will incorporate a completely reorganized and updated set of content designed to make information on our services much easier and more intuitive to find.  The home page will still provide prominent access to technical assistance, systems status information, policies, updates on current topics of interest, and information about us.  The significant change is that you will be able to navigate the content of the site by several means:

  • Audience (student, faculty, staff, etc.)
  • Major service category
  • An indexed service catalog
  • Using a key word site search

We have incorporated our former Learning & Professional Development (neé Training) team portion of the site to provide Tech Time videos, online learning resources, documentation and how-to articles, and class schedules and registration as Learning Resources. This category will also include informational content that doesn’t precisely fit a particular service but complements the services-based presentation to complete our online offerings. And now the learning resources are connected directly to the services that they support through instruction and information.

No matter how you approach our site, we hope that you will be by your experience in finding the help and information you need in support of your mission at NAU.  The new site is now live.  Please check it out and let us know if it is an improvement and also where it can be further improved. You can do that directly from any service page by using the comment box on the right side to email us your ideas. Our new content management system enables us to quickly add new content and keep all of our pages updated, connected, and relevant.
