Finding Your System SpecificationsYou can find your Mac OS X system specifications by following these step-by-step instructions. Note that this process shows how to do this in Mac OS X 10.7 (Lion). The process is similar in Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard), Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard), and Mac OS X 10.8(Mountain Lion).
Step 1Left-click the "Apple" button on the far-left of the menu bar at the top of the screen.
Step 2Select "About This Mac" from the menu.
Step 3You will see some basic information about your Mac. Left-click the "More Info" button for more detailed information.
Step 4You will see a window with a more complete overview of the system specifications. The first red box in the above image indicates the processor information, including the model and speed. The second box indicates the amount of RAM that is installed. The third box indicates the operating system version that is installed. In this case, it is Mac OS 10.7.3. Note that Lion and 10.7 mean the same thing.
