Microsoft Office Products Download Instructions

The Microsoft Office installers referenced in these instructions are for NAU departmental use only on NAU Owned computers.  You must be logged into the NAU domain in order to access these installers.

Faculty/Staff: For home use, you must purchase Microsoft packages through the ITS Software Store.
Students: You may purchase Microsoft Office and operating system products at the NAU Bookstore.

Microsoft Office 2013

ITS strongly recommends that you take training to familiarize yourself with Office 2013 before installing it. Information on training can be found on the Information Systems Technology Training website.

Office 2013 includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Publisher, and Lync.

You must be logged into the NAU domain or connected to the NAU VPN on a NAU owned computer to install this software. 
To install Office 2013, click on Start > Run and type in (or copy and paste)
\\naushares.ucc.nau.edu\Software\Windows\Microsoft_Office\Office2013\Office_2013_x86\setup.exe

Microsoft Lync 2010

Microsoft Lync 2010 ushers in a new connected user experience transforming every communication into an interaction that is more collaborative, engaging, and accessible from anywhere.

You must be logged into the NAU domain or connected to the NAU VPN to install this software.
To install Microsoft Lync 2010, click on Start > Run and type in (or copy and paste)
For 32bit versions of Windows
\\naushares.ucc.nau.edu\Software\Windows\Microsoft_Office\Office2010\Lync\LyncSetup32.exe  
For 64bit versions of Windows
\\naushares.ucc.nau.edu\Software\Windows\Microsoft_Office\Office2010\Lync\LyncSetup64.exe

Microsoft Office 2011 for Macintosh

 These downloads are for NAU departmental use only. If you need a copy of Office for home use, it is available for $14 to faculty and staff from the ITS Software Store. Office is licensed under the Microsoft Campus Agreement.

Office version 2011 includes Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Outlook.

This software is located on a share. To access the share:

  1. On the OS 10.5.8 or later Finder menu, click Go > Connect to Server.
  2. In the "Connect to Server" dialog box, type in smb://naushares.ucc.nau.edu/Software/Mac/Microsoft_Office/Office 2011/Office_Mac_2011_with_SP3.ISO 
  3. A login box will appear. Enter information as follows:
    • Username = NAU\username (e.g. abc123) 
    • Password = your NAU password 
     
  4. Click OK and the OfficeMac window will open.

Now that you have accessed the share, follow these instructions to mount and install whichever version of Office you would like:

To install Microsoft Office for the Mac or create your own Office CD, drag and drop the desired .dmg (disk image) file to your desktop. This will copy the image file to your hard disk. Once the file has copied, double-click the file on your desktop to mount it. This will create a CD image on your desktop called  "Microsoft Office 2004" or "Microsoft Office X", depending on which version you've downloaded, which you can now double-click to install Office or drag onto a blank CD to burn a copy.

Microsoft Office Lync for Macintosh

Lync for Mac 2011 is the new rich client for Lync users on the Mac platform and offers integrated functionality for instant messaging, presence, conferencing and voice.

This software is located on a share. To access the share:

  1. On the OS 10.5.8 or later Finder menu, click Go > Connect to Server.
  2. In the "Connect to Server" dialog box, type in smb://naushares.ucc.nau.edu/software/mac/Microsoft_Office/Office 2011/Microsoft Lync for Mac/ 
  3. A login box will appear. Enter information as follows:
    • Username = NAU\username (e.g. abc123) 
    • Password = your NAU password 
     
  4. In this folder you will find a file entitled: Lync_2011_Install.ISO, you will want to install this file.

Once Microsoft Lync is installed, you must run the update located in the same folder as the installation file.  Since your drive is already mapped, you only need to click on the file named Lync14.0.1_update.dmg.  This install is similar to the initial install of Lync 2011, but it applies fixes to the original version.
