Java Removed from Mac OSX

Overview

As of October 17, 2012, Apple removed the Java Runtime Environment from Mac computers running OS X 10.7 (Lion) and above. Computers running OS X 10.6 and below still come with Java pre-installed and will work fine with Java-based applications.

The removal of the Java Runtime Environment affects all web browsers installed on your Mac (Safari, Firefox, etc...) and will cause problems with Collaborate and other NAU websites that rely on Java. Google Chrome is not currently supported by Java so ITS recommends that you use Safari or Firefox to access Java-based applications.

In order to remedy this you will need to install the Java Runtime Environment onto your Apple computer manually. To do so, please visit www.java.com:

Alternatively, you can wait for a website to prompt you to install Java and follow the instructions below.
