How to Clear Email Space in Outlook 2013
Outlook 2013 has a few areas where email can get cluttered and take up space. It is important to clear space in these areas to avoid running out of total space. This guide will show how to clear space in these areas of Outlook 2013.
Left-click "All Folders" on the left-hand side of the window. A menu will open listing the your folders. The folders to pay attention to are your Inbox, Sent Items, Deleted Items, Conversation History, and Junk Email. Any of these folders may have unnecessary space being taken up by excess email. The process for clearing these folders is the same for all of them. These instructions will work no matter which folder you select. Left-click the folder you want to clear.
Once you have opened the desired folder, you have two options for clearing it. If you want to delete specific emails rather than the contents of the entire folder, left-click the email you want to delete in the list, then left-click "Delete." Note that this does not permanently delete the email to clear space unless you deleted it from the Deleted Items folder. If you want to clear the entire folder or certain conversations, left-click "Clean Up." If you chose the "Clean Up" option, proceed to Step 3.
If you left-click "Clean Up," it will open a menu with three options. Left-click "Clean Up Conversation" if you want to delete a specific conversation between you and another user. Left-click "Clean Up Folder" to delete the contents of the entire folder. Left-click "Clean Up Folder & Subfolders" to delete the contents of the entire folder and the contents of any subfolders that may be included in it. Note that as with deleting individual emails, the emails you delete this way will be sent to the Deleted Items folder if they were not already there. To completely remove them, you need to clear out the Deleted Items folder.
