This guide assumes that if your Macintosh is a newer portable without a built-in Ethernet (RJ-45) jack, you are using an Apple branded USB-to-Ethernet adapter.

1. From the Apple Menu choose System Preferences, then Network.
2. If the padlock icon on the bottom left is locked, click it and input your password.
3. Select “Ethernet” from the list on the left.
4. Select “Using DHCP” from the pop-up menu on the right.
5. Click the “Apply” button to save changes.
6. Close the window.
