Internet Explorer - Bookmarks

Bookmark a webpage

  1. Open Internet Explorer and left-click the "star" icon in the top right-hand corner of the window.
  2. In the box that appears, left-click "Add to favorites."
  3. You will see a dialog box with the name of the web page you are currently visiting. You can save the bookmark as a different name besides the default if you choose. Left-click the "Add" button to bookmark the current page.

Export Bookmarks

  1. Open Internet Explorer and left-click the "star" icon in the top right-hand corner of the window.
  2. In the box that appears, left-click the arrow next to the "Add to favorites" button.
  3. Left-click "Import and export" in the menu.
  4. In the dialog box, left-click the "Export to a file" option, then left-click "Next."
  5. Left-click the "Favorites" box to place a check in it, make sure the other two boxes are unchecked, and left-click "Next."
  6. Left-click the "Favorites" folder in the hierarchy, and left-click "Next."
  7. By default, your bookmarks will be exported to your "Documents" directory. You may change this if you desire. Left-click "Export" when you are ready.
  8. Left-click "Finish." Your Internet Explorer bookmarks have been exported to an HTML file.

Import Bookmarks

  1. Open Internet Explorer and left-click the "star" icon in the top right-hand corner of the window.
  2. In the box that appears, left-click the arrow next to the "Add to favorites" button.
  3. Left-click "Import and export" in the menu.
  4. In the dialog box, left-click the "Import from a file" option, then left-click "Next."
  5. Choose the directory of the HTML file containing your bookmarks, and left-click "Next."
  6. Left-click the "Favorites" folder in the hierarchy, and left-click "Import."
  7. Left-click "Finish." You have successfully imported your bookmarks into Internet Explorer.
