Using Stats under the X windowing environment under XP
Academic computing supports two programs under X; SPSS and SAS. In order to use these programs you should be familiar with Unix and the X windowing environment.
In order to run an X type program on your PC you must be running the X server software on your local machine. Cygwin/X is a free version for Windows. Go to http://x.cygwin.com/ and scroll down to the Downloading section. Rightclick on the setup.exe link and save the setup program to your PC. Once it is downloaded then double-click on the file name. Full documentation for installing cygwin/X may be found at http://x.cygwin.com/docs/ug/cygwin-x-ug.pdf. Please make sure to open the Net selections and select inetutils and openssh to be installed.
