Target Population: Special Education Administrators, Parents, Consumers, Special Education Transition Specialists, and Policy Makers.
Need: The Governor's Council on Developmental Disabilities has identified the need to develop a report that would gather and analyze the status of students utilizing transition plans, attending post secondary education programs, and who are involved in community employment.
Project Goals and Objectives:

The project's goals and objectives are to develop a Transition Report that will address the Council's objectives which call for increasing initiatives in transition and post secondary education to in transition and post secondary education to enhance employment opportunities and to assess employment needs of business/industry and communicate labor market trends to schools and employment training programs.  The report will include:
    1.)  Identification of projected employment/trend needs in the State,
    2.)  Number of students identified in participating in school to work transition planning,
    3.)  Number of students participating in community work as part of their transition plan,
    4.)  Number of students participating in supported employment as part of their transition plans,
    5.)  Number of students utilizing transition plans to post secondary schools,
    6.)  Number of student transition plans that reflect the identification of project employment needs/trends,
    7.)  Current status of transition plans for youth with disabilities with descriptive details of best practices and results,
    8.)  "Snapshot" of tree school districts representing urban, rural, and urban/rural populations,
    9.)  Recommendations to increase the number of students attending post secondary education, and
    10.)  recommendations to increase the students transitioning to community employment.
