T-42: Pacific Perspectives for the Employment of Persons with Disabilities

American Indian Rehabilitation Research and Training Center

Sponsor: Fred McFarlane, Ph.D., Director and Kenneth Galea'i, Ph.D., Co-Director, Rehabilitation Research and Training Center of the Pacific, Interwork Institute, San Diego State University
Principal Trainer: Priscilla Lansing Sanderson (Navajo), M.S., CRC,
Co-Trainer: Jim E. Warne, (Oglala Lakota), M.S.

The purpose of this project is to provide an exchange of information on American Indian and Alaskan Native job development and placement strategies on reservations. Past experience of the staff at the AIRRTC has shown that many, if not most, rehabilitation providers of indigenous populations, specifically American Indians/Alaska Natives, are unaware of the valuable job development and placement strategies utilizing community resources, priorities, concerns, and traditional activities.

Note: This project has been endorsed by the Consortia of Administrators for Native American Rehabilitation (CANAR).
