Special Education Learning Experiences for Competency in Teaching

SELECT is a federally funded program sponsored by the Arizona Department of Education. Northern Arizona University courses are offered through SELECT as a cooperative effort between:

• Exceptional Student Services / The Arizona Department of Education
• The College of Education / Northern Arizona University
• The Institute for Human Development / Northern Arizona University
• NAU Distance Learning / Northern Arizona University

SELECT courses provide training to persons seeking to expand their skills in working with children with disabilities and are recommended for regular and special education teachers, related service personnel, paraeducators, and other interested individuals. Participants can take SELECT courses for professional growth (e.g., teacher re-certification) or to receive academic credit that can be applied towards teacher certification if the class matches the certification requirement.

Before taking any classes towards your certification requirements you should contact the Arizona Department of Education Certfication Office for a transcript evaluation:
