Assistive Technology Center
Various projects and services used to aid people in daily living.

Services

The Center provides the following array of services:

  • information and referral services
  • demonstration and training
  • assistance with self advocacy
  • short-term equipment loans (for financial loans go to Arizona Technology Access Program)
  • user support groups
  • technical support/troubleshooting
  • outreach to surrounding communities
  • assistance with Assistive Technology selections
  • evaluations to assess needs

Eligibility

The assistive technology services listed above are available to individuals of all ages and disabilities, to families of persons with disabilities, and to the professionals who work with individuals with disabilities. The Center also provides training to university students, community members, and to professionals.

Process

Generally, the Assistive Technology Center will follow the steps listed below. Individual requests may require a different process. In this case, the Assistive Technology Center Coordinator will contact you to advise you of any differences. We encourage you to participate in any or all of the following activities.

  • Review information in the request - Members of the assistive technology center will review the information included in the request for services, any reports or information provided by other individuals or agencies identified in the request and referral information, and identify individuals (or disciplines) that should participate in the activity(ies).
  • Planning meeting(s) - The team members will begin identifying specific activities that need to be completed to address the request for services and referral information.
  • Conduct specific activities - The activities identified in the previous step will be conducted and the team will meet periodically to review the results of each activity.
  • Develop recommendations - The team will meet to develop specific recommendations, identify training and technical assistance support that these recommendations require, and develop a formal report.
  • Follow up Ð Students and participating faculty members will provide any necessary follow up activities that were identified in the previous step.
  • Submit final report - The Assistive Technology Center staff members will complete a final report and forward this document to the individual requesting services and any individual or agency specifically identified in the release of information documentation.

Cost

The following fee schedule is used for Assistive Technology Center activities. A sliding scale for those who qualify is available upon request.

Assessment / Evaluation $60 - additional fees for specialists (OT, PT, SLP) are added to the base rate
Consultation $50
Technology Support $35
Training $35
Fabrication $30 + materials
Travel $20
Mileage $0.345/mile

*All fees will be billed in quarter hour increments. Any partial increments will be rounded to the next highest increment for billing purposes.
