We offer the CaPSTONE program, a clinical and theory program designed to provide you with advanced education in conservative periodontal therapy and maintenance. (No graduate degrees are offered in dental hygiene.)
The clinical component of this program offers you opportunities to develop and improve skills in tissue evaluation, microbial assessment, treatment planning, root planing, soft tissue management, and clinical teamwork. The theory portion provides you with opportunities to review and analyze the latest research and to update and review basic science concepts related to conservative periodontal therapy as presented by professionals in these fields. You must have current CPR certification to participate.
We offer DH 500 and 518 during a 5-week summer session and DH 501 and 519 during fall semester after the summer program. If you are a hygienist wishing credit for continuing education, you may take all or part of this 12-credit-hour sequence. Hygienists enrolled in the B.S. completion program through NAU's Department of Dental Hygiene must take the full 12-credit-hour sequence.
You may also use courses offered as part of this program as elective credit in a master's program at the discretion of your adviser.
Because of the clinical nature of this program, additional fees are required.
