Location:
This year's conference of the American
Association of Applied Corpus Linguistics (AAACL) will be held in Flagstaff,
Arizona on the campus of Northern Arizona
University. Flagstaff is a beautiful
setting that offers a number of interesting scenic sites nearby, including:
the Grand Canyon, many national
monuments, The Museum of Northern Arizona,
prehistoric Native American dwellings, Native American rock art sites,
and a number of Native American tribes. Nearby forests, mountain areas and
deserts offer a number of outdoor recreational opportunities. The city of
Flagstaff is situated in
the Coconino National Forest at an elevation of 7,000 feet (2,130 meters).
The elevation, combined with the Arizona sunshine, and clean air give the
city an unsurpassed year-round climate.
Getting to Flagstaff:
Flagstaff is located along historic Route 66 in north central Arizona.
Flagstaff has a small airport that has a commuter flights from
Phoenix Sky Harbor International
Airport.
In addition to flying, there is a shuttle with regular service from the Phoenix airport
Open Roads
Tours and
Greyhound busses from. Flying into Phoenix and
renting a car for the 3 hour drive up Interstate 17 is another attractive
option that allows you to experience a number of ecozones (desert to
alpine).

Flagstaff:
There are a number of hotels located near the campus. Some of the
