The ACT (American College Testing) is administered six times per year at NAU. For test dates, check the Testing Calendar. For registration and payment, contact ACT: (319) 337-1270. ACT student registration packets may be obtained at the NAU Counseling & Testing Center.

GRE Subject Tests are offered twice annually at NAU. To register for GRE Subject exams visit the GRE web site. For specific dates that the GRE Subject is offered at NAU, check the Testing Calendar.

The HESI A2 (Health Education Systems Inc. Admission Assessment Test) is a computer-based exam and is offered year round at the Counseling & Testing Center. Beginning in fall 2007, the HESI A2 will be required for admission to the School of Nursing RN program. The HESI A2 costs $75.

The HESI A2 is 6 hours long. The exam consists of 9 sections and an essay. These sections are described in detail at http://evolve.elsevier.com/staticPages/i_reach_exams_assessment.html

Students may take the HESI A2 exam only one time per application cycle. The School of Nursing application deadlines are

  • March 15 for fall semester
  • September 15 for spring semester
  • January 15 for the accelerated program

STEP 2: Contact the Counseling & Testing Center at (928) 523-2261. The proctoring fee for the HESI A2 is $50. Payment is due at the time of scheduling. Students must purchase their test through the School of Nursing prior to scheduling an appointment.

STEP 3: Students taking the HESI A2 must bring their purchase confirmation and 2 forms of identification to their testing appointment. Students who do not purchase the HESI A2 prior to their appointment will not be allowed to take their exam and will forfeit the entire proctoring fee.

The LSAT (Law School Admission Test) is offered three times per year at NAU.  For dates, check the Testing Calendar. For registration and payment options go to the Law School Admission Council website or call (215) 968-1001. LSAT infomation bulletins are also available at the Counseling & Testing Center.

The MAT (Miller Analogies Test), for admission to graduate programs, is given by appointment during general testing hours at the Counseling & Testing Center. This exam is computer-based. The fee for the test is $75 effective 9/1/07.

  • Candidates must present current picture identification to take the exam.
  • The MAT is a 50 minute exam.
  • Bring information about the institution(s) that scores will be sent. Scores can be sent to three institutions.
  • Unofficial scores will appear at the end of the test for viewing. MAT will mail official scores to the designated home address and to the institutions selected within four weeks after completion of the exam.
