Laura Funk enjoys interacting with the students that come into the Counseling Center. When she's not at work she usually spends her time hiking, camping, backpacking and fishing.
Picture of Megan GavinMegan Gavinis a post-doctoral resident at the CC. She received her B.A. in biology from Indiana University in 1997, her M.A. in counseling from NAU in 2004, and her Ph.D in Counseling Psychology from NAU in 2009. Megan greatly enjoys working with college students and is particularly interested in the relationship between adjustment to college and physical activity, as well as the relationship between mental health and physical activity. Outside of counseling, Megan enjoys running, backpacking, reading, and spending time with her family.
Picture of Chris Gunn Chris Gunnworks as a Licensed Psychologist and Director at the CC. He enjoys wearing the many professional hats of a supervisor, consultant, trainer, teacher, and therapist. Before joining the CC Team in 2001, his adventures included private practice and work at other counseling centers across the country, as well as sailing around the world as the ship psychologist for Semester at Sea. For amusement, he bikes, hikes, runs, and, when sitting down, writes creative non-fiction and makes short films.

Melody Hicks is the Coordinator of the Substance Abuse Services at CC. She has many years of experience in the area of mental health and substance abuse. Before coming to Flagstaff she had her own practice in Phoenix, taught in the Maricopa Community College District, and wrote articles and funny horoscopes for a local magazine. Living in Flagstaff provides her with opportunities to hike, bike, kayak, and enjoy all the wonders of the Colorado Plateau.
Picture Not AvailableLaura Lyn is a Licensed Psychologist and the Training Coordinator at the CC. She provides individual counseling, and facilitates several therapy groups (e.g., Women's Therapy, Eating Disorders). In her role as Training Coordinator, she provides clinical supervision and oversees the training of master's level counselors doing internships at the CC. She joined the NAU CC in 1998, and this is the fourth university counseling center in which she's worked during her career.

Larry Reynolds
is the team lead for Campus Health IT (DR,CC & FHC). He earned his B.S Degree from NAU, 1990 and just recently completed his A.A.S in Network Engineering. Any free time Larry might have is spent with his 3 children: Rebekah, Tytus and Cassandra.
Picture of Derya SuzenDerya Suzen is a Multicultural Counselor, Post-Doctoral Resident. She completed her Ph.D in Counseling Psychology at University of North Dakota. Before joining CC, Derya worked as a counselor within other University Counseling Centers. In her role as a Multicultural Counselor, she closely works with offices of Multicultural Student Services, Native American Student Services, and Student Support Services. Derya enjoys the beautiful scenery and weather in Flagstaff. She is interested in nature, cooking, and cultural activities.
Picture of Kim Vercauteren-GriffinKim Vercauteren-Griffin is a Licensed Associate Counselor who returns to CC after 2 years at Arizona State University Counseling and Consultation. She received her MA in Counseling from NAU in May 2006, following an internship at NAU CC. Kim enjoys working with students and is excited to return to Flagstaff and the NAU Community. She is also thrilled for the opportunity to watch NAU athletics on a more consistent basis. She looks forward to the Northern Arizona weather and the various outdoor activities it presents.

Tom White
is a Licensed Psychologist who has been at the NAU counseling center since 1992. He worked as a psychologist on four other campuses before coming to NAU. His favorite activities include hiking, gardening, reading, and hanging out with his son.
