The Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry at Northern Arizona University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Analytical Chemistry starting August 2009. Minimum qualifications include a Ph.D. in analytical chemistry or related field. Preferred qualifications include (1) post-doctoral research and teaching experience; (2) a publication/funding record in the area of analytical chemistry or related fields; (3) research interests in bioanalytical chemistry, materials science, or forensics, broadly defined, and (4) experience working with culturally diverse populations. The successful applicant will be expected to provide excellent instruction in both introductory and advanced analytical courses; develop a strong externally funded research program involving both undergraduate and graduate (M.S.) students; and provide service to the Department, the College, the University and the profession. The Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry has 16 faculty committed to excellence in teaching and research. The department currently has over 250 undergraduate majors and offers a number of Bachelor and Master of Science degrees in chemistry including ACS certified degrees. Collaborations with individuals involved in areas such as Biology, Physics, and Environmental Science are encouraged. The Department has expanded with the recent hiring of new faculty, a new biology/biochemistry building completed in 2000, and a new 80,000 ft2 Laboratory Sciences Building that was occupied in January 2007. The Department looks forward to continued improvement with the arrival of the individual chosen for this opening.
