NAUreads asks all first-year students to read the same book and encourages students to participate in conversations about the book. This provides all our first year students with a common experience as they begin their educational journey. Students can use the book to initiate conversations and build community with their new classmates, roommates, faculty and the Flagstaff community. The program includes opportunities to participate in:

  • Campus visit with the author
  • Class discussions
  • Book Club NAU for students enrolled in NAU 100 and NAU 120A
  • Flagstaff Reads

NAUreads and Flagstaff Reads is pleased to announce the 2015 selection, Just Mercy: A Story of Justice and Redemption, by Bryan Stevenson.

Just Mercy explores the commonality of all individuals in our community and how we treat those who have been rejected and marginalized by society.  Through Stevenson’s engaging memoir, the themes of human compassion, understanding, mercy, and justice offer hope to all members of our community.
