The mission of Academic Transition Programs is to help first year students successfully transition into Northern Arizona University’s academic community. Academic Transition Programs provides students with the necessary tools to develop realistic academic and personal goals, locate helpful student resources on campus, and create an overall successful and memorable college experience. Our purpose is to help you exceed your own expectations at Northern Arizona University!

We will work together to achieve this goal by easing your transition from high school to college and by helping you make positive connections to faculty, staff, and your peers at NAU. NAU offers comprehensive first-year programming which is developed in a collaborative effort between the university and students, and facilitated through coursework, activities, and services. Academic Transition Programs offers the following:

NAU 100: Transition to College
NAU 120: Study Skills and College Success
NAU 130: Back on Track

ATP courses use peer leaders who provide individualized support connect first-year students to activities and resources that focus on student success.

ATP courses are designed to inform students about college life, assist during times of academic struggles, and work diligently to get students back on track for academic success and ultimately graduation.
