Information Desk Staff

Information Desk Staff work at the University Union, du Bois Center, and/or Health and Learning Center Information Desks. Duties include but are not limited to: 

  • maintaining building cleanliness
  • conference room sets
  • customer service
  • an overall knowledge of the campus
  • setting up AV equipment

Necessary skills for this position are: communication, organization, dependability, teamwork, the ability to multi-task, problem solve, and take initiative.
Must be Federal Work Study (FWS) eligible for Fall 2016 semester to apply.

USA Desk Administrative Assistant

Duties and required skills include: heavy communication skills and customer service. Answer phones and greet guests. Schedule meetings, vendor booths, and other associated activities within the Student Union facilities.

Must be Federal Work Study (FWS) eligible for Fall 2016 semester to apply.

Grounds Crew

Duties and required skills include: Building maintenance, trash pickup, landscaping/yard work, snow removal.

Available work hours are Monday through Friday, 7:00am to 5:00pm. Occasional weekends.

Yellow Bike Mechanic 

Job Description:

The following duties are required from mechanics throughout work shifts at the du Bois Center, Health & Learning Center & University Union:
  • General bicycle maintenance for the Yellow bike program: adjusting handlebars, seats, chains, truing wheels, and replacing inner tubes. 
  • Bicycle overhauls such as replacing bottom brackets and headsets, and repacking coaster break hubs. 
  • Data entry to update maintenance records within the rental system is a daily task. 

Benefits:

Flexible Schedule: 10-15 hours around class schedule during school and 20-30 hours during summer
Pay Rate (Non-Negotiable): $8.50 / hour 

Job Requirements (Qualities Desired):
Complete knowledge of bicycle maintenance is preferred, but not necessary, this is a learning environment. Mechanics must be timely and self-motivated, and available to work during winter and spring breaks.
Valid driver’s license and ability to complete NAU van certification.

Yellow Bike Lead Mechanic

Duties and Responsibilities:

The following duties are required from mechanics throughout work shifts at the du Bois Center, Health & Learning Center and University Union:

  • General bicycle maintenance for the Yellow bike program: adjusting handlebars, seats, chains, truing wheels, and replacing inner tubes. 
  • Bicycle overhauls such as replacing bottom brackets and headsets, and repacking coaster break hubs. 
  • Data entry to update maintenance records within the rental system is a daily task. 
  • Create work schedules for maintenance crew of 2 to 5 bike mechanic staff members between Monday to Friday from 8am-5pm
  • Communicate with building coordinators about Yellow bike program and repairs/orders 
  • Register new bicycles with parking services
  • Place parts/tools/and supplies orders at local bike shops
  • Locate and repossess missing yellow bikes at the end of each semester/summer
  • Maintains a clean and safe workplace
  • Complete on line NAU trainings and/or attend in person trainings
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Building Coordinator or Assistant Director

Job Requirements (Qualities Desired):

  • Previous bike mechanic experience and bike knowledge is a must.
  • Ability to be autonomous, prioritize, multitask, and be detail-oriented
  • Must be able to work both independently or in a team environment
  • Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions and take direction well
  • Acceptable appearance and demeanor
  • Have a valid driver license to be certified to drive a 12 passenger/delivery van
  • Mechanic manager must have a van certification through NAU. Complete knowledge of bicycle maintenance is preferred, but not necessary, this is a learning environment. Mechanics must be timely and self- motivated, and available to work during winter and spring breaks.
