Research and teaching interests
Lea Parker developed the environmental communication program
at Northern Arizona University where she teaches environmental communication
courses for the journalism, environmental sciences, and environmental studies
degree programs. Her scholarly research in environmental communication topics
have garnered her several awards. She has completed international research and
writing projects for UNESCO and The World Bank.
Representative research and creative activity
Lea Parker is author of the following books:
- Environmental Communication: Messages, Media
& Methods (A Handbook for Advocates and Organizations), Second Edition,
2005, Kendall/Hunt Publishing Co.
- EcoCulture: Environmental Messages in Music,
Art, and Literature, 2002, Kendall/Hunt Publishing Co.
- In addition, as a former newspaper and magazine
writer and editor, Parker has published hundreds of news, feature,
environmental articles and photographs.
