Research and teaching interests

My work is on the cusp of the entertainment industry and the classroom.  I am always working on screenplays and with industry professionals.  I love teaching, writing and movies.  I've been putting on a weekly classic film series at NAU since 2003.  My classes include the Art of Cinema, screenwriting, and producing.  I am also the adviser for UTV62, the student-run television station and production studio.

Representative research and creative activity

As a television station manager and program director in the '80s, I won more than two dozen national awards, including two Clio’s (the advertising industry’s Oscar) and three Awards for Cable Excellence (the cable industry's Emmy).  Since then I've written and worked on dozens of screenplays.  I am co-director of a long-running NAU film series and write a regular film column about the series for the Arizona Daily Sun.  I have been the executive producer for an annual video production workshop that has brought about 100 students to NAU from the Netherlands every summer since 2004.
