Ecology, Environment, Forestry, Sustainability

NAU has a strong connection to the lands and people of the Colorado Plateau, and has developed robust partnerships with land management agencies, tribes, and non-governmental organizations in the Southwestern US and beyond. Research on forest fire and forest health, water and energy resources, wildlife management, biodiversity, and sustainability have had profound impacts on our understanding of these issues.

NAU’s administration has also demonstrated its commitment to sustainability, becoming a charter signatory of the American College and University Presidents’ Climate Commitment in 2007. NAU President John Haeger set a goal for NAU to be carbon neutral by 2020
